Get ready to uncover a world of secret delights right in the heart of Houston!

Hidden Bar speakeasy bar

Tucked inside Norigami in Rice Village, offers an upscale speakeasy experience with a Tokyo-inspired vibe. Behind a secret wood-paneled door, discover a neon-lit lounge where colorful paper cranes fly overhead. Enjoy creative cocktails like the bourbon-rum-Aperol served in a crane-shaped glass and a glowing butterfly pea gin cocktail. With a menu featuring unique items like foie gras hand rolls and a lo-fi beats playlist, Hidden Bar is perfect for reservations or a casual Happy Hour.

Sugar Room

Sugar Room speakeasy bar

Hidden behind The Sweet bakery on Washington Ave, the Sugar Room is a chic, speakeasy-inspired bar that blends nostalgic charm with modern flair. Its retro-chic interior features exposed brick walls and leather-bound couches, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. The mixology menu offers craft cocktails like the Garnet Manhattan, made with premium ingredients. With lively music, a vibrant crowd, and a spacious outdoor patio, the Sugar Room is perfect for a stylish night out, combining top-shelf drinks and delicious treats.

Decorum speakeasy bar

Decorum is an elegant hidden gem in Midtown Houston, known for its innovative design and refined aesthetics. This 10,000-square-foot private event facility features 24-foot ceilings, a fully functional gourmet kitchen and bar, and a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system. Perfect for any occasion, Decorum offers a sophisticated and impressive setting, blending grace with unparalleled style to create memorable experiences for all guests. Its discreet location, large size and club-like energy makes it a true standout in the heart of the city.

Bandista speakeasy bar

Bandista, located on the third floor of the Four Seasons in downtown Houston, is a reservation-only speakeasy with a 1920s Latin vibe. Accessible through a secret bookcase, it offers a creative cocktail program featuring premium spirits like WhistlePig 12-year rye and Highland Park 15-year Viking Heart. Guests enjoy artistic presentations, such as drinks served in glass skull decanters, and an exclusive atmosphere. Open Thursday to Saturday, Bandista is ideal for special occasions or impressing someone with its unique charm.

Meo Bar

Meo Bar speakeasy

Hidden behind a mural of cowboy-hat-wearing money cats inside Wokker, a Texas-Asian fusion restaurant, Mèo Bar is one of Houston's coolest speakeasies. The entrance features a secret doorbell behind a picture frame. The bar’s Vietnamese-inspired decor includes glass chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and scarlet red cushions. Mèo offers a carefully curated menu of cocktails and snacks, providing a unique and immersive experience. Co-owner Man Dao describes it as a place to escape and enjoy excellent food and drink without needing a special occasion. As we write this, they are temporarily closed due to construction, so keep checking in on their social media.

In the vibrant city of Houston, these five speakeasies stand out as hidden gems waiting to be discovered. From the cozy intimacy of Hidden Bar to the decadence of Sugar Room, each of these establishments offers a unique take on the speakeasy experience.
